Since founding her eponymous boutique interiors firm in 1997, Anne Coyle has crisscrossed the country to work on homes in Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, Palm Beach, East Hampton, Big Sky and Harbour Island. Her nationally acclaimed expertise has been recognized by Elle Décor, House Beautiful, Metropolitan Home, O at Home, Better Homes and Gardens, The Chicago Tribune, USA Today and CS Interiors.
When designing the space, Coyle envisioned the dining room of Baroness Karen von Blixen, the author and heroine of the novel “Out of Africa”. After losing her coffee plantation and the love of her life, Baroness von Blixen leaves Kenya and returns to Rungstedlund, her family home on the coast north of Denmark. Never one to remain idle, she transforms the dining room into her “day” room. Here, she can write her novels, conduct business, read, rest and receive visitors for meetings, drinks, dinner or backgammon. It is a versatile and multi purpose room and is how I believe many of us should be using our dining rooms today. I love this room because while it feels rather old school chic, it is utterly modern in its function.

Beverly Minister, my mother, who took me to Morocco for the trip of a lifetime. The beauty and warmth of the Moroccan people inspired the culmination of this room. The strength and dignity of my mother inspires me everyday.
